The introduction of vocational education and training (VET) within the senior secondary curriculum was designed to broaden students’ choices beyond subjects which predominantly led to university, and to provide alternative pathways to tertiary education and work. This publication provides information about senior secondary school students undertaking vocational education and training (VET) during 2003, either through VET in Schools programs or school-based New Apprenticeships. An overview of student characteristics is provided, including participation rates for VET in Schools program students, qualifications and the type of training undertaken. Show less
